Why does my ring set off security alarms?
A year ago I bought a ring from an antique store. It's real, has a topaz jewel in the center and smaller 18 diamonds around it. I've worn it for over a year but in the past few months every store I go in and out of the security alarms go off. Since I usually never take it off and after trial and error I know the ring is causing the alarms. Why and how could it do this, and why now and not when I originally bought it? I'm not sure what the band is made out of, but this is getting embarrassing and annoying...HELP!
Maybe there is something magnet on your ring. The alarms go off cause of metal strips that are placed in objects that they don't want to be stolen. When you go to Best buy or even walmart did you ever notice that they run there stuff over that little spot by the register? Well the metal strips are magnetized so they have to demagnetize it so that you can go threw the door without setting off the alarm.
