Pyramid Glass

Inside the pyramid of the Louvre?

I looked at pictures and descriptions of the pyramid, but I still do not understand exactly what is in it. Is it just a glass pyramid that leads into the museum buildings as you walk through it? What in the floor downstairs where he lead? Ty.

The entrance to the Louvre through several small side door was a nightmare for both visitors and staff and he really needs a better reception area, public facilities, etc.. the only way to do it all the mine without damaging the building existing. There were already underground tunnels beneath the building, except in the central courtyard. Then, the problem was to bring the light of day the project area groundwater. Thus, the architects were given the task of designing something for the area under the courtyard providing natural light in a manner aesthetics, not just the glass plates were walking on, and the concept of the pyramid evolved from there. Indeed, the pyramid is a large glass house bottomless through which the daylight is enough to cast the reception area underground. This part led to various galleries that we choose visit. At first people were horrified at the idea and thought it was a desecration of the site, but actually it turned out be a fantastic improvement and does not deter the majesty of the original palace despite its modernism.
