Ladies.. I'm not sure how to handle this situation???? Would you break with tradition????
My mother and grandmother got on the phone with me today. They have been updating their wills. I was speechless when they asked me IF I would like to have their small collection of jewelry. It's always been a tradition that precious jewerly be passed from oldest female to oldest female in my family. I am the eldest female in my generation.I don't have any daughters. I have a son. I do have a niece, who I am very close to.
OK..Finally to my question... IF I have a daughter (either bio or adopted) should I break tradition and share some of the jewerly with my niece or should I keep all of the jewelry for my future daughter?
Tradition is fine but once the jewelry is yours you can do what you want with it. I think it's awesome that your heart is big enough to think of your niece.
Follow your instincts...they're rarely ever wrong! Best Wishes!
