WILL MY ANGEL FISH FINS GROWN BACK?
My Jewel fish have been chewing on my angels fish's fins, one is i think fully grown and the other is a baby angel... and there fins are damaged because the jewels ate them..
we put the jewels juts in a bucket thing before, with warm water and the tank thing that you put in for tropical fish- the liquid -
but will there fins grow back.. they seem very distressed...
ok so i mean a plastic bucket, the temperature is ok, and we have plants and a little boat in for them,
(the jewels are in the bucket)
And the large angel has been mostly picked on, the baby not so much, the big one has turned a yellowy color, she was white, this is due to the stress i think, and her fins are damages a lot, the fins at the sides have bean torn in two, but there still there, and the little dangley bit at the bottom of the angels, well the large angels have been chewed half off
Jewels and angels are not very compatible - not even the same stratum. I am surprised that your angels are just distressed rather than floating.
If the fins are just tattered they will mend back together in time. You will need to add a preparation with aloe or other support for the slime coat to protect against infection and parasites. Stress is now a greater risk decause of the injury.
If the skeletal structure has been altered, they will live like amputees and will recover and may even live a long life in there hampered swimming ability. I hope you have some plants (even artificial ones) for hiding places. This will reduce their stress so the may survive.
FYI, I had my GF's cat worry an oscar to death a number of years ago. No sign of physical damage but they were floating because the cat got into the fish room and stressed her to death.
